Jack Johannemann
Founder and Vice President of Save the Kid
April 23, 1950 – August 23, 2026
Jack Johannemann was a co-founder of Save the Kid and part of the group at Millstone Power Plant that helped build the organization alongside founder Frank Matovic and other dedicated early members. For more than 41 years, Jack devoted himself to improving the lives of children and young adults with disabilities and became one of Save the Kid’s most dedicated leaders. He was especially passionate about adaptive bicycles and equipment that gave children greater independence, freedom, and the simple joy of participating alongside their families and friends. Jack’s legacy will continue through the many children and families whose lives he touched and through the mission he helped build. He will be greatly missed by the entire Save the Kid family.
Frank Matovic
Founder of Save the Kid
January 5, 1948 – May 15, 2025
Frank Matovic founded Save the Kid while working at Millstone Power Plant, where he and a group of dedicated colleagues came together with a shared commitment to helping children and families in need. With the support of Jack Johannemann and other early members, that effort grew into an organization that has gone on to improve the lives of thousands of children and young adults with disabilities. Frank’s vision, generosity, leadership, and determination helped establish the foundation of Save the Kid, and his legacy remains an enduring part of the mission we are proud to carry forward today. He is greatly missed by all of us at Save the Kid.
